The pie chart shows the relative amount of time users spend in various categories in smartphones and tablets, being games and utilities the most and least popular areas, respectively.
In the second place, 29% of the usage is attributed to social networking in smartphones, followed by utilities (20%), music and videos (8%) and news (3%). What is striking is that the second most frequented activity mobile devices is almost twice as the time spend in that same area in tablets. This is partly due to the fact that games occupy a 35% of the users’ hours in the former whereas the rate rises up to a 57% in the latter.
It’s also interesting to point out that whereas a fifth of the chart is occupied by utilities in smartphones, people spend less than 5% of their time in this category when using tablets. The percentages regarding news are fairly similar, with a 3% and a 4% respectively. This difference is slightly higher in music and videos, where people spend almost 25% longer with the tablet than they do on their phone.
Overall, games is the favorite pastime in both categories, just followed by social networking, whereas news is the least preferred section.
