Given is the line graph illustrating the number of noise complaints given to the Environment Health government in the city of New Town from 1980 to 1996. Overall, it is clear that most of the complaints about noise in the city tended to rise; by contrast, there was a decreasing number of Domestic/household complaints. Initially, the figure for Domestic/household was the greatest, at 650, prior to experiencing a dramatically downward trend to 100 - the smallest at the end of the period. By contrast, the number of Factories rose to 600 from 1980 to 1984, and then underwent a slight increase to nearly 800 in 1990 and continuously decreased to 500 in 1996. The numbers of Road Works and Traffic Noise stayed unchanged at 500 and 300 in that order from the beginning to 1982, before gradually decreasing by 100 two years after and then continuously stayed at 400 and 100 from 1986 to 1988 respectively. After 1998, the figure for Road Works experienced a sharp growth and peaked at approximately 1200 in 1996; similarity, that of Traffic Noise also dramatically increased to 600 at the end of the period.
