Global energy Consumption since 1970 by generating method
Global energy Consumption since 1970 by generating method WLX5
The line graph provides an overview in percentage on numbers of sources and its consumption of energy all over the world for the period of 30 years. Overall, It is evident that the use of Natural gas and Nuclear energy has increased whereas the demand for petroleum and Coal has decreased.
The use of Nuclear energy as a resource slowly gained momentum from the year 1970 to 1975 at 5%. It slowly increased over the period of next 13 years to around 10%. The need to use clean energy went up for the next 8 years and being plateaued at 12% for the last 5 years from 1995 to 2000. In comparison, usage of Natural gas was steady since the year 1970 for around 20% with slight upward fluctuation for the years 1971 to 1973. It has remained stable for the next 8 years at 20%. For the next 14 years namely from 1981 to 1995, there has been a consistent growth in consumption from around 22% to 25%. However, in 1998, the energy usage crossed 25% with a fall post-2000.
Energy produced using natural resources as Coal and Petroleum were highly used and in-demand since 1975 at about 33% and 46% respectively. After a slight surge from its starting consumption rate, in 1975, Petroleum contributed around 50% consumption of all energies produced. Over the period of time, a decline is observed. From the year 1990, for the next 10 years, the usage of petroleum as an energy source has been reduced to around 40%. Similarly, usage of coal has declined over a period of time with slight fluctuations and is stable at around 27% in 2000.
