Above chart shows the population of men and women who are engaged in higher studies throughout three periods. It also depicts whether these men and women were studying full time or part time education in Britain.
There was a Steady increase in the part time and full time education of women in 1970, 1980 and 1991. However overall in both full time and part time mode slight difference can be seen between number of male students and number of women students studying higher studies in year of 1970 and 1981.
There was linear upward trend in the part time education of women pursing higher studies from 800 thousand to roughly 1100 thousand women over these three decades. On the other hand number of men taking part time education has somewhat decrease from 1 million in 1970 to approximately 850 thousand by the end of 1991.
In both years 1970/71 and 1990/91 number of men taking full time education was slightly higher as compared to number of women pursuing full time education except year 1980 where surprising above 200 number of female commencing there further education which is slightly greater than number of males commencing same mode of education.
