explain the chart of breeding salmon and the cycle of life

The illustration given provides details about the stages involved in the life cycle of salmon which is a large species of fish. Generally, salmon goes through four phases in its life cycle in three different locations. The salmon chooses to lay its eggs between the reeds and a small stone as it is the ideal place with slow-moving currents where they hatch and remain for a period of approximately 5-6 months till they develop into a fry of 3-8cms in length. On reaching this stage, they swim downstream where the water is fast flowing and spend the next four years there. During this phase, they grow to a size of 12- 15cms and are referred to as smolt. The next phase of its life begins with the migration to the open sea where they spend about 5 years and mature into adult salmon measuring between 70-76cms. They again moved to the upper river for reproduction after reaching this stage.
