I would like to thank you for your sharing. However, I think we just care about the economy and forget the environment. Therefore I have 2 issues about the regional environment that I want you to share
As you know, in many countries in South East Asia, tourism has been a major cause of environmental pollution and destruction. For example, most tourists drink bottled water when on holiday, and this creates mountains of plastic waste every year. Not only bottled water but also many other types of trash, people do not preserve the environment and have a habit of throwing away the litter at the wrong place and lead to environmental pollution. Waste disposal problem is a part that contributes to the degradation of the environment. If untreated dumped into the ocean, it negatively affects marine life. When another waste is disposed of incorrectly (for example, dumped in the forest or in the river), it may damage the area with the toxins that the waste released over time.
furthermore, the invasion of tourists into certain places can disrupt the local wildlife and ecosystems, causing further environmental damage and destruction. Any development requires some interference with nature. Many infrastructures are built without any sustainable development plan or environment protection policies. Therefore development comes at the cost of nature.
New areas of land. need to be cleared for new hotels and roads. Animals lose their natural habitat and have to move to a new location. Often animals get into a conflict with people when protecting their territory or looking for food. Unfortunately, most of the times animals are at loss.
To make this clearer, here is a chart showing Italy's Forest Economic Service in 2019. As you can see, that to improve tourism and recreation concerns accounts for a large number and is near the highest level, level 4. then you imagine how much deforestation for tourism.
