The given chart shows the division of household tasks by gender in Great Britain. It shows how men and women spend their time at home in minutes per day. It is evident from the chart that women spend more time in household tasks than men. However, men tends to spend more time in gardening and pet care as compared to women (that is 20 minutes a day more than women). Also, maintenance and odd jobs are done mostly by men in other words men spend approximately 15 minutes more in a day. We see a huge difference in time spend by women on cleaning, house tidying as compared to men – more than 40 minutes. All other jobs – cooking, baking, washing up, ironing, sewing are mostly done by women with a great difference. Thus, on an average women work approximately 25 minutes per day more as compared to men. Which means women are more active in household tasks whereas men are mostly occupied by their professional job.
