Diagram of Skeletal System
Diagram of Skeletal System 1kEbq
The diagram shows a comparison of the two skeletal systems of the modern human being. One is named as Australopithecus afrarensis, the walker and tree climber and the other is Homo erectus, the walker and endurance runner.
A major difference between the two is their width of the body with the tree climber having a wider body shape than the endurance runner. Having that shape most of his internal organs are wider like wider chest, waist, long femoral neck, and long toes. Whereas, the endurance runner has a narrow chest, waist, short femoral neck, and short toes.
Starting from the head, tree climber has an unbalanced head with long stout followed by high narrow shoulder, wide chest and waist, long forearm and small gluteus Maximus. They also have a long femoral neck but with small hip, knee, and ankle joints and short Achilles as well as the heel bone. They have long toes but with a partial foot arch.
On the other hand, an endurance runner has a balanced head with a short snout followed by low wide shoulders, narrow chest and waist and a big gluteus Maximus. They have a smaller femoral bone compare to tree climbers but large hip, knee, and ankle joints and nan enlarged heel bone. With short toes and stabilized foot arch, it proves that they are indeed good at running
In conclusion, there are significant changes in the development of early humans with clear differences between the tree climber and endurance runner.
