The most popular activities were performances, such as dancing or singing. 22% of responders said that they participated in such performances. For 16–24-yearol ds performances were the most popular activities with about 35%. Visual arts were popular with young people as well with a bit less than a third of young scots enjoying the visual arts.
Overall, the least popular programs were computer based, with only 6% of scots partaking in them. These programs were more popular with younger people. Unlike crafts, which seemed to become more popular the older the respondents were. In total 19% said that they took part in such programs.
The oldest generation was the most likely to make cultural purchases with about 18%, compared to the 25-44 year old categorie’s 17%, and the youngest generation’s 11%. For 25–44-year old’s writing programs were the least attractive. However, similarly to the youngest age group, performances played a crucial role in their cultural life.
