Overall, during the 10-year period, the average annual expenditures on cell phone witnessed an upward trend, while the opposite trend was true for the amount of money spending on residential phone services of American customers. Looking at the graph in detail, in 2001, the average cost that the American residents spent on mobile phone was only 200 dollar, which was lower than the figure for landline phone services at nearly 700 dollar. After that, the data on cell phone was rocketed to 300 dollar from 2001 to 2002, and then slowly increased by 10 dollar in 2003, before rising significantly again to nearly 540 dollar and meeting the statistic on landline phone services in 2006. Meanwhile, a stability downward trend was seen in average annual expenditures on residential phone services to about 540 dollar in 2006. Regarding the remaining years, amount of money spending on residential phone services of American customers dropped rapidly to about 400 dollar in 2010, whereas the figure on mobile phone experienced growth to about 750 dollar.
