Describe a time when you moved to a new school. You should say: when it was why you moved how old you were then and explain how you felt about it. [You will have to talk about the topic for one to two minutes. You have one minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish. ] Model Answer:
Not sure, how many of us really needed to move to new schools, when growing up as a child, but I needed to do so a few times because of my father’s profession. Today, as per the requirement of this cue card topic, I would like to talk about one of those few times when I moved to a new school.
It happened about 15 years ago when I was about 14 years old and attending my 8th grade. Back then, we, together with my parents and the siblings, all moved to a nice little town because my father got promoted in his job.
Initially, I wasn’t really sure whether to like the new place or not. But, after a few days, I started to tell myself that it wasn’t exactly a bad place to live. However, when it came to getting admission to my new high school, I felt really shocked because of the fact that the staffs were not exactly as helpful as my previous school. In fact, I had to go to my new high school a couple of times just to get an admission. However, when I actually started my classes, I found out that my fellow classmates were rather nice and helpful. In fact, the class captain ordered all the students to introduce themselves to me. This particular good gesture on the part of my fellow classmates actually helped me get over the initial shock of starting my new high school.
Slowly after that, I started to like my new school and its environment. Even the staffs and teachers started to recognize me as I started to perform well in my class.
Anyway, moving to this new high school was a bit shocking experience for me as I wasn’t exactly treated very nicely. But, I kept telling myself to be patient. I also realized that in life, things don’t always turn out to be the way we expect and that we should always remain positive in life if we really want to improvise and succeed in life.
