Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to inform you that I will not be able to start work on November 15, as agreed during my recent interview with you, due to unavoidable situation.
The reason that I cannot start my job is that I got sick for the last whole week and was not able finish my hand-over to my colleagues at current company and will need another week to do so.
I will very appreciate you if you understand my situation and let me to start my job on November 22. To clear the backlog created by my late start, I can work two additional hours every day until I catch up, either coming in early or leaving late. I am quite certain that I will complete the pending work during that time.
I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused due to this and I hope you would allow me the delay in joining your company.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours faithfully,
