Traditions and cultures are very much integral part of our life though innovations can lead to break of our age old practices. In this essay, I argue that there is no need to abandon our traditions and cultures in the name of progress, and I disagree with the statement that we need to forsake customs for advancement.
First, many of our customary practices are forward looking and, are instrumental in our growth and forward movement. For example, even in traditional times, people used to believe in science and made efforts to achieve progress although they also subscribed to traditional values and ethos. This exemplifies that there is no need to sacrifice our traditions in the name of progress.
Second, traditions have played a very significant roles in human' s lives. As tradition itself exhibits diverse practices, there is no one custom that is right or wrong. People around the world may have differing ideas about ancient customs, but they have all marched forward over the years. Therefore, what we can infer is that no one needs to forgo their established cultural norms in the name of progress. That essentially means that traditions are less likely to have obstructive role in human civilisation and growth.
In conclusion, traditional values and progress can go hand on hand and the former can not be said to have impeded the growth. It should be a clarion reminder to everyone that traditions need not be abandoned in the process of making forward progress. We can maintain both of them simultaneously.
