Hey there,
I'm writing to you to discuss the Christmas traditions in Hungary. It's my personal favorite festival and also you asked me about it in your pervious letter, so now I'll tell you a few things about it.
First of all, we celebrate Christmas on the 24th of December, not on the 25th. In my opinion, this is the biggest difference. Before the festive dinner, we open the presents, which are usually under the Christmas tree. We don't hang sock upon the fireplace, actually we don't even have a fireplace.
The festive dinner mostly fish soup and fired fish, but I've heard of pumpkins soup and bratwurst too. Then comes the photo shooting part, it's my mom's obsession, every year we sit down on the sofa and trying to do some pictures, but we have a pretty large family, especially if my grandparents come over, so it's almost impossible, to do a great shot.
And because the photo shooting, we have to dress up elegantly, but I'm not willing to wear a skirt! That's why I have loads of fancy trousers and blouses.
How about you? Do your family have any traditions?
Warm regards,
Lilla
