Dear Sir/Madam, I, Tarun Sharma, an Indian student, would like to apply for my student visa application to honour St. Clair College's acceptance for its Data Analytics for Business program. Introduction Enterprises today are increasingly using data as a compass that steers them towards business outcomes. Understanding the historical Data and drawing insights by subjected the same through Data Science and Analytics methods can help businesses make well-informed, calculated decisions. For example, studying customer preferences by analyzing patterns and digital footprints helps businesses improve their conversion rate and bottom line. Data is the fuel that drives digital transformation, and with time, data technologies have expanded to offer features that aid companies in reaching their maximum operational potential. The advantages that Data Science and Analytics yield for a business is immense, and therefore, I resolved to establish a career in this field. Moreover, over my experience working as a Patent Analyst, I have seen data analytics in action and desire to be a part of the complete game. Precisely for this reason, I have selected the Data Analytics for Business program at St. Clair College, commencing in September 2021. Educational background During my academic tenure, I completed my sophomore year with a CGPA of 9. 8 and my senior year with 85. 4%. The excellent grades earned me a seat in the reputed Mechanical Engineering Program at Maharishi Dayanand University, wherein I scored an aggregate of 66. 78%, completing my undergrad program. The learning and exposure from the projects and internship are enumerated as below: Projects: In order to apply the conceptual knowledge gained during the classroom sessions, I interned at various places. The first internship stint was at Victora Auto Pvt Ltd, wherein I analyzed defects in the manufacturing automobile exhaust system parts and recommended preventive actions. I gained exposure to various quality control measures, including six-sigma. The stint lasted only one month; however, the learning was immense. Thereafter, I interned at Showa India Pvt Ltd for a month the following year. Here, I worked on a project that required me to study and suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency. My final internship was at Piverse India Pvt Ltd and lasted five months. Here, I was exposed to intellectual property basics which then progressed to become advanced proficiency. Therefore, the stint was converted into a full-time employment opportunity. Professional Exposure After seeing my performance during the internship, Piverse India onboarded me as a Research Associate in Mechanical Engineering patent search & analytics team. For a period of six months, I worked on various Intellectual Property related tasks. Despite being new to the area of analytics, my hard work reaped good results, which earned me a 'Commendable Job in Analytics 2016' award. After gaining a year's experience, I moved to Verispire Technologies and worked in the same role. Here, I worked on several patent research and analytics projects, which led me to contribute to preparing an automation tool for the company, which brought down the time taken to analyze design patent records. After gaining considerable experience in multiple internships and job roles, I was hired as a Senior Associate by Clarivate. My work earned me several accolades, including “Employee of the Quarter Q1 in 2019” and being promoted to an Assistant Manager position. Why study the Data Analytics for Business program at St. Clair College? My work experience in total has taught me the importance of Data. Data is the new oil that everybody is attempting to leverage. The Data Analytics for Business Program would enable me to acquire skills required to manage, clean, format and interpret important data, extract information, and reveal patterns. Businesses progress and succeed based on their decisions, and to make a sound decision, data analytics is imperative. This course will help me delve into interesting subjects such as information management, data visualization, machine learning, artificial intelligence, advanced data statistics, financial analytics and decision-making using analytics tools. I am also quite excited about the capstone project in the final semester where I can apply the skills learned during the course to solve a problem. When I came across the program offered by St. Clair College, I was enthralled. Being a professional, my priority is learning specific. The comprehensive curriculum, the state-of-the-art facilities, the assured practical exposure, and the erudite teaching faculty the College is home to has compelled me to apply to the program offered. Receiving the acceptance letter from such a reputed academic institute was a feat that I will cherish. The small class sizes will enable me to get the award-winning faculties' focused attention and a good grasp of the subjects to offering customized support to the international students. Also, I would like to grow as a Data Analytics expert who is able to provide new and innovative solutions for tackling the innate challenges that arise from business processes. Chiefly, I would like to use my expertise to build efficient models with minimal to no-risk factors using relevant data extracted from the large source material. I have a keen social consciousness and want to also look at solving real-world problems that affect humans on day-to-day basis. In the long run, I see myself occupying the leadership role, steering companies towards great heights with the power of data analytics or patent analytics, in addition to the inclusion of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the mix. Funding I have paid one year's tuition fees of CAD 16, 000 and made a GIC of CAD 10, 000. I have taken a bank loan to finance my education in Canada which accounts to CAD 33, 000. In addition, we have investments worth CAD 13000 plus and property to the tune of CAD 67, 000.
