Dear Manager,
My name is Amen, and I am a frequent user of bus X32 that runs the Yaba to Ikoyi route, Monday through to Friday. In the last two weeks, I have experienced a number of problems while using the bus service. I thought it pertinent to bring these problems to your attention so they can be resolved swiftly.
I have been taking the bus X32 for over a year now. I join the bus at the Yaba Station and alight at the Parkview stop, on Gerald Road, Ikoyi. I have always been impressed by the neat and hygienic state of the buses but in the past two weeks, this standard has declined drastically. For example, yesterday morning, on entering the bus, I was assaulted by a foul smell. When I complained to the driver, he said that the bus had not been cleaned since its last trip yesterday. This is completely unacceptable, especially in this COVID-19 period, where hygiene is of utmost importance.
Another issue I noticed is that your employees on ground are no longer enforcing social distance rules. The government-issued guidelines state that no passengers should stand in the buses, and buses should only carry a maximum 60% of their capacity, with no two people sitting side by side. Over the last two weeks, these guidelines have been ignored. It first started with selling tickets for all seats. By monday last week, there were standing passengers on the bus.
These issues I have highlighted above are very serious as they affect not just your company's reputation, but public health as well. I would suggest that you re-orientate your staff on the public health safety guidelines and also post supervisors to monitor the buses to ensure they are maintained and run properly.
The world is still battling with the COVID-19 situation and we all must be responsible for each other and take the necessary precautions so we can all survive this pandemic.
I am hopeful that you will take the necessary steps to remedy the situation.
Yours sincerely,
Ms. Amen Nomayo.
