Hi Alex,
It is great to hear from you. How have you been? It is surprising to know that your friends are going to go backpacking around Vietnam, so I would like to give you some recommendations.
Firstly, I think Hanoi – the capital of Vietnam will be the best choice to start their journey. Hanoi is famous for its antiquity and tradition through buildings, roads and citizens that has become a part of Vietnamese.
From Hanoi, they can take a train to visit Hue which has marvelous citadel. I think they should go by train because it is the best time for them to enjoy the natural landscapes. After that, it is easy to catch a train to Da Nang; and don’t forget to visit Hoi Anh Ancient Town. Especially, I hope that your friends won’t miss Ha Long Bay which is know as an UNESCO World Heritage Sites and attract visitors by its fascinating scenery. Finally, when they reach to Ho Chi Minh City – in the south of Vietnam, I believe they should discover this interesting city by motorbikes. Different from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh is hustle and bustle with friendly citizens regarding with delicious local cuisine.
And about accommodation, the best option would be stay in homestay or dorms; they normally cost between 3 dollars to 5 dollars per night.
Well, I am pleased to give you some suggestions and I wish your friends are going to have wonderful time here in Vietnam. You can ask me any questions, I hope to hear from you.
Take care,
