Misinformation in a magazine article. Letter to editor. wa8xd
Dear Sir or Madam, I am a resident of town Bristol, and I am writing this letter to highlight an error in the article published in your magazine last Sunday October 12th 2020. In the article, you have given a vivid description of beautiful heritage architecture, buzzing cafes and restaurants, scenic parks and lakes surrounding the town. It's a near perfect portrayal of a tourist destination. However, there is a section in the article which mentions that the crime rate has been steadily increasing in the town due to growing number of tourists. This is an entirely inaccurate representation of the fact. If you check the statistics published by the city office, it says that due to the flourishing tourism in the town, not only the city revenue has increased manifold, but the standard of living of the residents has also improved substantially. In fact, due to growing income, city council has deployed more police personnel to ensure effective maintenance of law and order. Your magazine has a large readership and such an error could drive the tourists away from this town leading to significant losses. I request you to rectify the error immediately by sending out a press release and republishing the article with the error highlighted and rectified. I have the cited the source of the correct information from city office at the end of the letter for your reference. Sincerely, Tom Martin
