Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to apologize for not returning the books I took from your library last month.
I understand that as per the policy, I cannot keep the books for more than 10 days and it is being 2 weeks. The reason I was not able to return them as I had met with an accident and fractured by left leg. I was admitted to the hospital and was under heavy medication and completed missed the deadline or asking someone to return the material on my behalf.
I sincerely apologised for the inconvenience it would have caused to you and other students and make sure that this will not repeat in future.
As the incident was beyond my control, I would request you to please do not impose any penalty or revoke my library rights. In any circumstance in the future, if I would not be able to return the study material, I will make sure that any of my friends return it.
Your faithfully,
Sam
