Dear Anu, Hope this letter finds you well. I’m writing this letter to thank you for inviting me on your birthday party on 10 November. However, unfortunately I won’t be able to attend it. I have an important exam on the following day and my revision for the course is still pending. As this exam is related to my final semester, I cannot miss it and have to score good. I asked my lecturer if there is any possibility for me to give it on another day, but this option is not available. However, I will be free from exams and assignments which I need to submit to my university after 12 November. Why don’t we plan something after that? There is a nice club called ‘The Grill’ opened recently next to my building and they serve delicious Indian curries and drinks.
