Dear John,
I hope this letter catches you in radiant health and the best of spirits. I am writing this letter to invite you to visit India. I know you always wanted to visit here and trust me this is the best time of the year to travel here because of the celebration of the traditional festival Deepawali.
Deepavali falls in the month of October and November and people start getting their houses whitewashed prior a month or two to this festival. It literally means row of lights. Everything looks so new and beautiful. It is celebrated to commemorate the arrival of Hindu's Lord Rama after 14 years of exile. People wear new clothes and burn crackers at night. After that, we worship goddess Lakshmi according to a ritual. Everything is just fun and frolic.
To be honest, you should not miss this opportunity as it will also help you greatly in your project globalisation and tradition and you will see that Indian people have not forgotten their traditions in spite of being a part of a global village which is totally influenced by Western culture. Please bring your parents along if they can spare time. I know you will enjoy it a lot.
Hoping to see you soon.
Best wishes,
Priyanka
