Dear Jason, My English teacher, Ms. Patty, has suggested that I write to you and introduce myself. I’m a 32-year-old PhD student at McGill University, specializing in European History. I’m originally from Pakistan but recently moved to Montreal, Canada, with my husband to pursue my studies. Besides researching full-time at the university library, something that keeps me occupied for the most part of the day, I like to watch movies: I’m a big fan of indie films and arthouse movies. I generally prefer shows and movies that belong to the supernatural genre, but I am usually open to anything that stimulates my mind. I also enjoy traveling and take at least a couple of weeks off every year to go on trips with my husband and friends. I feel that traveling is an activity that reinvigorates me and I wish I could travel all the time! I absolutely detest going to the gym, as I find it very boring to walk on the treadmill for extended periods of time without any sort of excitement. That doesn’t, however, mean that I hate all kinds of exercise! I love swimming, and I wish I could go to the community pool to swim more often. I can only manage to go swimming once a week with my current schedule. I would love to know more about you and your interests! Let me know if you find going to the gym as boring as I do! Hope to hear from you soon! Best wishes, Riri
