Dear James,
How are you? I have missed you since the last time we met. You might be wondering why I am writing you a letter. I heard that you are coming to Vietnam in January, so I want to explain what to pack for the trip. Give you some advice on the appropriate and inappropriate dress in my country.
After you get your passport, reservations, and tickets, it’s time to think about clothes.
I live in Hanoi city, located in the north of Vietnam and it has a tropical monsoon climate, so in January the weather here is very cold. You can bring warm casual clothes that are not too thick to wear at home. In January, in Vietnam there are many holidays like Tet, I think you can bring some nice, stylish clothes to go out and to keep warm you remember to bring socks, gloves, scarves, hats, jackets. Do not forget to bring umbrellas, some clothes that are easy to dry because it may rain. You should not bring clothes, jackets that are too thick or shirts that are too thin. Regarding shoes, I think you can choose comfortably.
I will take you to the temple, so I think you can choose discreet, not too colorful, neat clothes. The weather will be cold, so I don't think you should wear shorts or skirts, tight clothes, and you can't wear them here, either. I hope you will wear shoes instead of sandals, they can keep your feet warm too.
That's all I said and Please contact me if you have any further questions.
