I am very honour to write this letter supporting my application for a Lecturer 3xnV5
I am very honour to write this letter supporting my application for a Lecturer in Civil Engineering in the School of Architecture Design and the Built Environment at the Nottingham Trent University. \\ I have been an interdisciplinary researcher in modern civil engineering covering structures, geomechanics, earthquake, numerical and physical modelling, and software development. I do also have rich enterprise and research experience in collaboration with industry and researchers from different universities, levels, backgrounds and experiences. \\ I have been the second supervisor of PhD students, and several IP and GDP projects in the last 7 years. Diversity, inclusion and equity are very important for me and I have always shown it practically in collaboration with students and colleagues irrespective of their background, gender, experiences, disabilities, etc. \\ By working at high-quality universities in the UK, I’ve learnt to make my direct reports feel a sense of inclusion, belonging, and equity daily. I believe strongly in ensuring that all students and staffs feel capable of success. \\ As a postdoc, I have been a volunteer on several processes of assessment of a large number of students and I know how to tackle this situation when It is my full-time responsibility as a lecturer. \\ I understand how to organise my lectures to promote student learning and explaining the difficult subject simply and easily. Making my lecture a good learning experience for all students including varied background knowledge base is very important for me. When I was delivering lectures at the University of Southampton I strived to apply several techniques of active learning and work-based learning in my courses. \\ I’m a professional on market-leading and multidisciplinary Finite Element (FE) software as well as computer programming of very powerful languages with different real-world applications. This range of applications allows me to cover more research-integrated teaching as I am very motivated to provide a high-quality teaching experience for students. I’m very strong in computational mechanics and engineering mathematics as well as geomechanics, structural design based on Eurocode. It would be my great honour to deliver lectures and tutorials across a range of Civil Engineering areas, not just only structural analysis and design, engineering mathematics and fluid mechanics but also MSc courses, to students as well as supervision of undergraduate, MSc and PhD projects. It would be my pleasure to engage in training programmes and work effectively in the department and across the university to provide higher student satisfaction. \\ Nottingham Trent University is a very good university in the UK for delivering high-quality teaching and this will be my great pleasure to nominate for the module leadership rule as well as working towards increasing the sense of belongingness in between staffs and student for learning and academic citizenship in the school. \\ In respect of research, I’m very honour for collaborating with scholars in the top UK higher education system including the University of Dundee, University of Southampton, University of Bristol and the University of Surrey and my short term plan is to submit one research proposal for EPSRC open fellowship as PI by November 2021. I’m a peer reviewer in UKRI as well as several refereed journals. I have been an author and co-author on 10 journal papers and more than 10 conference proceedings. I have always wanted to establish my own independent interdisciplinary research group solving grand challenges in structural, geotechnical and earthquake engineering. \\ I’m a member of HESA, ICE and my career perspective is to work effectively towards getting FHEA and CEng within the first two years of my career at Nottingham Trent University. My long-term vision is to have a collaborate with the engineering society and scholars and acquiring a senior lectureship. \\ The educational commitment and motivation for high-quality teaching and collaborations outlined in the presented application may position me as a successful lecturer at Nottingham Trent University.
