I am referring to the Postdoc fellowships: A circular building sector: Policies and regulations (Reference Number PA2021/2696) at Lund University and hereby I would like to declare my interest in this position. My name is Azadeh Mohajer Milani. I am an independent, hardworking researcher, holding a Ph. D. in Architecture with skills and competence within interdisciplinary research who is interested in applied research, enjoying social interaction, and working with others. The reason why I am applying for this position has laid on a couple of aspects; firstly, I am looking for a first career step in academia where I can focus mainly on research and further develop new knowledge within an ongoing project where I can collaborate both in academia and in practice, which is my interested area. I believe a Postdoc research can provide me with a broader chance of developing my view and abilities to engage with a wider society. Secondly, with my scientific and scholarly skills, especially within policies and regulations, in addition to my experience in the industry, I can contribute to this specific research environment and address implementable solutions. Finally, I had a rewarding experience at LTH as a guest researcher on 2017-2018, and that is what initiates me to apply again for a career in this university. I can introduce my competencies in this subject in three main ways; • My academic background. In my Ph. D. research, I had been working on how policies and regulations impacted residential buildings. Specifically, I focused on urban regulations and national building codes and their impact on the spatial configuration of the layout. This study had conducted using case study and been analyzed by a software called space syntax, resulted in an implementable solution for current situation. Since the finding of this project was applicable in practice, it got funding from INSF and has also been registered as an applied research project in the research center of the University of Tehran. Furthermore, the findings appealed to the ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran for the “National Housing Action” plan. As a member of the Swedish Research School in Architecture, I have participated in a couple of courses on sustainability, one of which was at Chalmers University entitled: "Approaches-From theory to practice- methods for knowledge production in architectural research". The focuses of the second module were on placing design knowledge and practices in the discourse of sustainability shortened by “Perspectives on Ecologism”. I kept myself being active in the field since my graduation and given several speeches both in the industry and the academia in addition to publishing numerous pre-reviewed articles such as: “The impact of regulations on the typo-morphological transformation of residential buildings in Tehran”, in the Journal of Urban Morphology. • My experience in the industry I have worked directly with Tehran's mayor as a special assistant in urban design and architecture. I was involved with many projects from urban questions to their implementation included sustainable method of using wastes and re-use materials. I have also participated in decision makings committee about urban planning and urban regeneration of a complex city like Tehran. • My Teaching backgrounds I engaged in lecturing at various levels in architecture, urban design and environment departments, for almost 7 years now. A list of which has been provided in my CV. Teaching is not static for me. Each class is different, as is each student. In all my classes, I utilize approaches to engage the student in the process of learning and to provide a context for teaching them critical thinking. Using a multitude of teaching approaches, I guide students to appreciate the complexity of building a sustainable future for the benefit of people and the environment. An example of my lecturing ability had proven in the Theory and History of Architecture III (ATHA15) at the school of Architecture-LTH, where I had asked to have a lecture on the topic of the Architecture and urban design of the Middle East. What I got as feedback was that “the lecture was excellent, well structured, well suited for the audience and skillfully presented” said Mats Hultman, the main teacher of the course. All in all, I found the announced position matching my area of experience, interest, and background. I am confident that if given a chance, my skills can contribute to the research team, and I can prove to be an asset to the department. Please do not hesitate to contact me if any other information is needed. Yours Sincerely,
