Dear Mrs. Smith, I am writing to request you to allow me to give a speech about my country on your international day next week. I am a social activist and public speaker. I know that your students come from different cultures and I would like to speak on a couple of topics that they will find interesting. I will start with the theme unity in diversity. I am sure no other idea represents my country better than this idea. I will also talk about the benefits of being multilingual. I am sure I can talk about this topic at length because of my ability to talk four languages. My speech on these topics will easily grab the attention of your students as they are already familiar with life in a plural society like ours. This will help them to relate to their day to day life at college with the examples I will be quoting in my speech. Thus, they will learn to leverage their multi-cultural environment effectively and get inspiration. Could you please let me know if I need to register my name with your college council? Also, I would like to know whether there are any other formalities to complete. Looking forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely, Lucy Langland
