The use of social media is replacing face-to-face interaction among many people in society. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this trend? qJ1d
It is true that in this day and age, direct communication is being replaced with the application of social networking sites, such as Facebook or Twitter. Personally, I accept that these technologies can sometimes have a positive effect on people, and I would also argue that it is more likely to have adverse impacts. On the one hanđ, the increasing utilization of social networks should bring some obvious benefits. The first and primary advantage of social media is connectivity. They have made it much easier for us to effectively interact with each other, regardless of location and religion. Social media is also a powerful tool for education. You can enhance your knowledge about any field by accessing a huge storage of news on Facebook, Twitter, or Whatsapp, and updating yourself with the latest happenings across the world, rather than newspapers or magazines. On the other hand, I share the concerns of people who believe that social media could do more harm than good if we are not careful. Firstly, many people, especially children and teenagers, are so addicted to social networking sites that their eyes constantly glue to phone or computer screens without spending time on doing something useful. Another drawback is that using social media frequently not only disrupts the sleep cycle but also leads to a sedentary life style. My young brother, for example, spends time surfing Facebook or playing games all day long; therefore, he is having short-sightedness and some personality disorder. Finally, social media can spread false and unreliable information quickly, fake news tends to be more reliable than true stories. In conclusion, while social media applications will no doubt improve our lives in many ways, the potential risks of such technologies should not be ignored
