The reading passage claims that storing medical information on the electronic system is better than on paper forms and also mentions to some advantages of the electronic databases. However, the lecturer rejects these cases and says that the result of the electronic databases is uncertain. Firstly, the reading passage says that electronic records need less cost to saving, moving, copying and faxing medical information rather than paper records and also doctors can have access to electronic medical record easier than paper forms but the lecturer states that most doctors use the paper form and keep patients information on paper as a backup. Secondly, the reading passage claims that electronic medical records significantly reduce medical errors and increase the serious consequences for the patients' health. However, the lecturer refutes this idea and argues that electronic record cannot eliminate whole errors or mistakes. Most doctors still take note and write by hands in less time and staff and reader are familiar with doctor’s handwriting. Finally, the reading passage says that electronic database is used by researchers to conduct research because all information gathered in the database and on paper forms collect this information is impossible but the lecturer explains that sorting information in a medical database is difficult and need permeations because the patients' information is confidential. Thus, it is possible some records are hidden.
