The ideal is the government providing free education since kindergarten to college/university to all their citizens. However from my point of view, higher education is costly and requires a massive amount of investment. Thus, it will be a huge financial burden for the government to deal with and the state might be broken on the long run. To begin with, nowadays most of the countries are going through economic issues generated by the global down economy. Some countries are having hard time to grant their citizens pensions and even to keep offering a decent universal health care system for th. . .
