The four bar charts illustrate the number of various fresh citrus fruits of the three biggest world’s exporters in 2012.
Overall, it is obvious that the orange was the most popular fruit with its export volume far exceeding those of others. It is also apparent that the United States remained the top three exporters in all of the fruit except in the case for lemons in the year shown.
With regard to oranges, South Africa was the largest exporter, with more than 1 million metric tons, which was higher approximately 1 and 4 thousand metric tons than Egypt and United States, respectively. Besides, the lemons obtained the second exported position in comparison with three sorts of others, which was exported with the most amount in Turkey, at 400 thousand metric tons. Mexico followed behind with about 440 thousand metric tons being sold overseas, which was significantly higher than that of Argentina.
In terms of grapefruits, there was the same figure for South Africa and the United States, around 230 thousand metric tons, whereas that for Turkey stood at roughly 180 thousand metric tons. Regarding other types of citrus fruit, the biggest exporter was Mexico, which sold abroad 450 thousand metric tons, was over 5 times higher than that of the United States and Israel.
