These days, people like to celebrate special occasions like birthdays and weddings by inviting many people. Birthdays are celebrated because one has entered this world and the other, for one is going to start new phase in life. In both the cases people end up spending more than expected. The following essay will discuss reasons behind this and provide necessary solutions. In recent times, people think these kind of moments should be celebrated grandly, as it happens once in lifetime or few times. For instance, marriage is considered to occur in a lifetime and so they wish to have memories till last breath, which is possible when there is well decorate location and all near and dear ones are present. They think it is impossible to achieve something special and remembered forever without spending more money. Thus, it is obvious, why people incline towards this point of view. Another reason for enormous money spent on weddings is to display the financial status to the world. For example, in India, if the girl's parents do not organise lavish wedding, the groom's relatives find loopholes in the wedding. Hence, the parents invest all the life earned income and at times end up in debts. Furthermore, people like to exhibit their wealth and so they spend foolishly without even realising that their is wastage of valuable resources such as food. The situation of unnecessary expenses can be avoided only if people, including the bride and the groom decide upon simple marriage with limited expenditure. People have to change their mindset that spending crazily for just one day or few hours is unwise, instead the money can be used in productive ways like investing money for future unexpected crisis or for children's education. Also, charity can be done by providing basic needs for poor. Money should be spend for the events which provide memorable moments and happiness but it is also advisable to spend wisely and save for future purpose.
