Since the advent of the industrial age, manufacturing industries have been plagued with a dilemma, to manufacture long-lasting products, albeit a bit expensive, or to concentrate on producing inexpensive products on a large scale. This essay will discuss both these options and advocate the production of quality products that serve the user for a substantial period of time. Industries today churn out a plethora of products, from hairpins to aeroplanes, with an equally diverse range of price tags for each. Although the average consumer would no doubt always opt for a longer lasting alternative given the choice, it has to be borne in mind that the durability of a product is, in most cases, a reflection of the money it costs to produce.
