Assignment #2

Her husband of many years just left her.
A pair of steely hands gripped the steering wheel, the knuckles turning white. Lia’s car veered off towards the highway entrance. The tires of her SUV squeaked against the smooth pavement, as the black vehicle aggressively switched lanes. Her eyes shining with tears. The tires were met with black asphalt as the car drove off an exit. The unevenly spread material and the unrelenting speed caused the car to bounce up and down. Lia’s head was met with a poorly closed plastic board, the sun visor bouncing off and leaving its painful mark on her crown. Her shoes hit the brakes violently and the car lunged forward. Honks of protest erupted from behind her, but Lia ignored them. Her head fell on the smooth leather head support. A droplet of salty liquid cascaded down her pale face. Soon, the car slowly entered the parking lot of the mall. She stumbled outside and walked straight towards SAQ. She slammed a carton of a dozen of Bud Light Limes on the counter of the checkout. The action causing the bottle caps to rattle as the liquid trembled inside the glass bottle. Stares came from all directions of the store, but they all seemed to bounce off an invisible barrier as Lia did not spare them a single glance. The cashier took notice of her dark eye bags and swollen red eyes and quickly averted her gaze. Lia grabbed the handle of the carton and quickly headed towards her car. Once she arrived, she immediately uncapped the bottle and took a swig of the cold golden liquid. Her eyes trailed on the silver ring on her ring finger that sparkled in the sunlight. She slid it off, and gently placed it on the ground of the parking lot. The ring continued to glitter in the sunlight, as Lia drove away.
She just learned that she has only six months to live.
Georgie’s distraught eyes stared blankly at the road. Her shaky hands clutched the wheel of the second-hand Toyota Prius, the sweat slightly soaking through the fabric. Her car pulled into the parking lot, and she slowly got out. Georgie walked to the candy section before grabbing a Kit Kat. She walked out after paying, and stepped into the sunlight. Georgie raised her head to gaze at the source of light above her. She narrowed her eyes as the sun shone upon her. Georgie kicked at a pebble and watched it roll to the exit of the parking lot. Seconds later, a car zoomed by and crushed the pebble beneath its tires. Georgie’s eyes became misty, and she quickly ran back to her car. She slammed the door shut as she ignited the car engine. Silent tears streamed down her face as the car stopped at a red light.
She has to make an important speech to a large group of business associates that evening.
A pair of intent eyes bore holes in the window of the car, as the Tesla Model S drifted into the shabby parking lot. Brooke got out, shutting the door of the classy white car before heading into the little tailor store. Inside she was escorted to find a suit in the dimmed room that smelled like fabric. As she was being measured for her sizes, she closed her eyes and mumbled the same words under her breath. When she took her suit and left the store, her eyes suddenly lit up. Arriving in the car, she immediately kicked off her black heels before opening her laptop on her dashboard. She furiously started typing on a powerpoint, her fingers flying over the keyboard. Her stance relaxed and she stepped on the gas pedal before reversing out of the parking lot. The dark brown liquid of now cold coffee swayed dangerously in the plastic cup. Brooke’s phone rang, her manager’s name appearing on the screen. Brooke listened intently before replying, “I’m on my way. ” She then took the entrance to the highway, looking determined.
She just dropped off her best friend, who is moving across the country, at the airport.
Her teeth chewed her chapped lips as Aria watched the figure that had long disappeared from the airport doors. Her head turned as a whistling sound urged her to move her car. She quickly ran back to her Land Rover Discovery and shut the doors of her black car before stepping on the acceleration pedal. Her car leaving the long line of cars and pulling onto a highway. Aria tried to stop the tears that stung in her eyes. A message suddenly flashed through her phone screen, Aria’s shoulders shook as she tried to stop the steady flow of salty liquid cascaded down her cheeks. But she still stared at the road in front of her, hands still grasping the steering wheel tightly as she headed towards the supermarket. She pulled over at Target and headed towards the kitchen garbage bags aisle. Aria’s still glossy eyes scanned the products before grabbing a box of 24 garbage bags. After paying for her purchase, she exited the store and climbed in her car. Puffy eyes gazing out the window as she reversed out of the driveway.
She is trying to decide between adopting a puppy or a kitten from the local rescue.
Irene chewed on the nail of her left hand as her right gripped the steering wheel of her BMW X6. Her teeth leaving uneven bite marks on her nails as she gnawed on them. Her car slowly pulled into the parking lot, as a few honks announced their annoyance at her tremendously slow pace. Irene opened the window before waving her hand in apology to the cars behind her. She opened the door of her car and ran into the pet store. She paced around the store before stopping at the treats section. Her eyes moved nervously from the cats’ snack section to the dogs’ section. Her hand levitated in the air as she continued to gaze at the two types of treats. Soon enough Irene slammed a packet of treats on the counter and handed the cashier her credit card. She got back in her car, throwing the pack of treats in the back seat along with a cage and blankets before pulling out of the parking lot. She drove off, with a half guilty look, half excited look on her face.
