It's often discussed, whether the best for children is teaching them at home or leaving them go to school. Nevertheless, before we take a decission, let's analyze the advantages and disadvantages of these to educational paths.
On the one hand, it's benefficial for a kid being taught at home, since the lessons can be always adapted depending on the capacities of the child, especially if it turned out that the child is gifted or, on the contrary, is an under average kid, when it comes to intelligence.
On the other hand, we must also consider that schools are not simply buildings with chairs and tables where kids remain eight hours looking at some PowerPoint presentation. Schools are mainly a place for the kids to develope as sane and balanced humans. The most convincing advantage of schools is the fact, that kids forge relationships with other kids and socialize in order to adapt for the future coming where they will have to work, live and grow with each other.
From my own point of view, I wouldn't say that keeping your son is the best decission a parent could take. As my mother always said: "The bed is for sleeping, and the street is for living". What I mean is, that every activity has a place to be done in. You can't, for instance, live on your bed or sleep on the street.
Personally, I wouldn't expect my kid to grow mentally sane if he were the whole time at home and without friends. Moreover, I would't even know what for a live he would have as an adult, while others had a different education.
There are a few examples of this phenomenon in Australia. In desert areas or farms, kids don't have any schools near their homes so that they must be educated online, and researches have proven that these average kids are unable to do another work, but farming or whatever their parents do to earn money.
In conclusion, I think it's better that children are taught in schools rather than at home, however difficult it could be to find one or where your child fits.
