reading passage and lecture discuss

reading passage and lecture discuss ekNW
Both the reading passage and lecture discuss whether the genetically modified trees (genetic modification) are good or not. The lecture argues that there are three reasons for not supporting genetic modification; however, the reading passage refutes each of these points. First, the author of the passage claims that genetically modified trees are harder than natural trees. However, the lecture contends that they may not be appropriate for some climates. Secondly, the text asserts that these kinds of trees are economically useful. In contrast, the listening counters that they have hidden costs that you may not pay attention to them. For example, you cannot collect the seeds of modified trees and plant them. Legally you should pay a company that you bought from it. In third, the reading passage states that the utilization of genetically modified trees can stop the excessive use of natural trees, especially for timber and firewood. On the other hand, the lecturer mentions that these trees can cause more damage to natural trees. This matter occurs because natural trees and genetically modified trees grow in one place, but genetically modified trees' growth rate is more than natural trees. So, they use the resources such as sunlight and water that it causes destroying the natural trees.
