A few decades ago most of the new stories on TV and newspapers were textual. However, over the last years more and more new stories on TV and newspapers come with pictures. A number of people think that when newspapers or new stories on TV accompanied by pictures it is more successful. There are several reasons why people think that news with images is more effective. One of the main reasons is that news with pictures is more attractive than just textual one, because newspapers or stories with no pictures look boring and it looks hard to read that is why people will not have desire to read it. Whenever, the news with pictures looks easier to read and give us an opportunity to find out what this news will be about before we start to read. For instance, recently I have read the news about creating giant fish sculptures in Rio that were made using discarded plastic bottles. Before reading it the pictures of these sculptures grabbed my attention because it looks really amazing that is why I became more curious to read the whole news story. On the other hand, not all new stories or newspapers will be ideal for pictures, because sometimes some stories will be easier to tell in words than in pictures. In this case pictures can only distract from the deep essence of the text. In addition, reading news without pictures helps people to reflect and imagine it in their hand. Thus it develops such skills as critical thinking, analytical thinking and imagination, because sometimes when we look at pictures we can understand everything without reflecting and thinking. In conclusion, I believe that news stories on TV and newspapers that are accompanied by pictures are as effective and can also be ineffective.
