Schools should not have mandatory testing each year because tests are not always the best way of measuring education. Test, especially standardized test, can only cover a limited amount of skills. There are some other things in education that are not easy to test, such as creative thinking or soft-skills. In addition, not all students do well on tests. Some students are better in writing or giving a speech. In this case, the test would not cover the full spectrum of skills of each student. Therefore, it is unfair for many students to introduce the mandatory testing each year because the universities don’t get a accurate view of how successful they are. Thus, school should not be required to have mandatory testing. Mandatory testing does not provide a fair assessment of student skills, and it makes schools focus more on the test than on teaching important things.
