How does human activities affect the sea level

How does human activities affect the sea level 86KQP
In the past few decades, sea level has gradually increased. Though it is mentioned in the passage that it is not harmful and asserts that this process is typical and already happened before, the speaker in the lecture states that the rise in sea level is a big issue and further care should be taken on resolving this problem. The speaker feels that the rise in sea level is due to intervention of human activities and it is going to affect them severely. First of all, the author states that the polar ice melting does not account to increase in sea level. This was based on the fact that the ice is already on the water, as it is already displacing the water, it will not affect the sea level if it melts. But the speaker claims that the rise in water level is primarly due to melting of polar ice. She mentioned the Greenland and Iceland polar ice scenario. Deposits of ice are on the land. Due to increase in human acitivities - high consumption of fossil fuels - temperature of the atmosphere has increased, thus melting the polar ice deposits on the land. These deposits are significant and they are the reason for increase in sea level. Secondly, the author stated that the sea level fluctuation is a slow and gradual process that will not affect the humans as they have considerable amount of time to adjust. But the speakers disagree by saying that there is no enough time and immediate measures should be taken. As mentioned before, due to over usage of fossil fuels, green house effect has become prevalent. The ice cap melts 100 times faster than before which is a alamrming situation for humans situated nearer to the ocean. As economy and population is nearer to the oceans, almost 20% of the landmass are in risky state. As the melting of ice is 100 times faster, land mass nearer to the ocean will soon submerge under the ocean. In conclusion, author feels that there is no serious issue on the increase in sea level, but the speaker sees this issue in the opposite way, She states that the situation is severe and tangible measures should be taken to halt the increase in sea level.
