Actually I don't know the first thing about history, it's kind of embarrassing to admit this. Of course I took History when I was in school but most of that stuff kind of went over my head. So this question is really difficult for me. but the great historical event of 2/9 I can definitely recount.
September 2nd, 1945 is an important landmark marking a major turning point of Vietnam. It was an establishment day of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and is also considered the National Independence Day of the current Socialist Republic of Vietnam. President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, officially claiming the independence and sovereignty of Vietnam from France and Japan. This event ushered in an era of economic prosperity and people's lives better.
