Consumers are faced with increasing numbers of advertisements from competing companies. what measures can be taken to protect them. koW8
These days companies are highly promoting consumerism to users through numbers of advertisements. I think buyers are getting motivated easily through such adverts and purchase the products shown in advertisement. Some steps should be taken by government to protect them. To commence with, these days people are more active on social media, such as facebook and twitter, and share their likes and dislikes with their near and dear ones. Consequently, companies buy data from social media platforms, to learn people's behaviour. Based on this, they target users to show advertisements to trap them. For example, people get more advertisements on food and drinks they likes as they might have searched online while ordering food. As a result, people eat unhealthy food and face health issues, such as cardiac problems and obesity. Furthermore, to compete with others, companies do advertisements in big events, such as cricket match and live music concerts, as company knows millions of people will be attending the event. As a result, more users influenced by the product's advertisement and end up spending more money on products which they do not need. To protect consumers, government should banned advertisements if repeatedly target by the company. Moreover, Consumers should be given control to block advertisements without their consent. Also, users should compare products before buying as it may lead to getting duplicate products from false advertisement company. To conclude, I think consumers are easy to get influenced by multiple number of advertisement from the competing companies. I believe consumer should not fall in trap and fake advertisements. Also, to prevent this government should spread awareness among the people and banned the advertisement which are targeted without consumer's consent.
