The cost might be high due to the additional cost of the extractiing and the fluctuation of the metal prices. Also there could be additional cost for the mining instuments. Finally, the passage claims that there is some of the asteroids are good option for colonization because they are close to earth, so they maybe eazy and affordable to get to and get back from.
