Alternative medicine is a controversial topic. g515g
Alternative medicine is a controversial topic. The reading provides some points in favor of such types of therapeutic interventions. On the other hand, the professor lectured about the flaws in alternative medicine approaches. The professor discussed that conventional medicine is based on scientific documents. Therefore, it’s efficacy can be tested. Alternative medicine has no scientific basis. It’s methods are not tested, refuse to be tested, and/or fail in scientific experiments. This annuls the claim by passage that the alternative medicine is superior to the conventional one. Moreover, the professor stated that the high demand for alternative methods is the direct result of media propaganda. People are biased by the huge amount of advertisements that promote the false claim about synthetic drugs, i. e. the continuous use of conventional drugs ends up in drug dependency. According to the professor’s argument, the general perception about alternative therapy, which is believed to be a more holistic approach, is false. Finally, the professor mentioned the formal education of conventional health care providers the strength of it. The credentials achieved by them can be evaluated and their degrees are awarded based on their documented education, for example internships and residencies. However, in contrast to the reading passage, the alternative therapists do not go through such well-designed and intense educational programs.
