He was a soldier and he came back from war with PTSD. The violence that he witnessed during the war continues in his behaviors back home. Because he cannot get over it. Therefore, he always wants to be in control and to achieve that he continuously manipulates people around him. There is violence against women from Danny’s side. He holds Marley’s arm very tightly, hurts her and also, he scares her with his letters.
