Recently, nostalgic restaurants are not only a spot for old generations to come and relive their memory but also a peculiar experience for youngsters to savor their forefather’s comfort food. Talking about nostalgia, it will be absolutely impossible not to mention the “Mountain Retreat” restaurant. It is located on LeLoi street of district one which is covered by a plethora of modern skyscrapers, combining with the profound meaning of the bygone era in visual, it has created a wonderful juxtaposition. When I was a kid, my grandparents occasionally brought me to this restaurant and persuaded me to try some of the traditional cuisines, which they had usually eaten when our country was fighting against France’s colonial empire. Although it is pretty plain in decoration, it has an exploding flavor. The menu consists of every staple dish which you can easily find in any household, for instance, the fried tofu, the boiled vegetables, the stewed fish, and an abundance of familiar foods. Moreover, the close-knit and warm atmosphere of this place has been embedded in my memory for the first time. With the precious value was brought to customers, “Mountain Retreat” deserves to gain exposure.
