In the 14th to 17th centuries after the ending of Crusade war that took 300 years, there was a period of culture change in Europe named Renaissance. At first, artistic knowledge of Greek and Roman was introduced through documents and books that Muslim scholars in Arab had translated for example Aristotle's philosophy and Greek mathematics. Afterwards, the fall of Constantinople, the center of the Byzantine Empire, made the monks and scholars in the city carried a hand-copyed manuscripts, books that was the collection of cultural knowledge and heritage from Greek and Roman civilization, published to European society. At that time, printing technology and moveable types just invented by Gutenberg. For that reason, the knowledge of classical art spread so quickly. Europe brought these published knowledge to university, improved and adapted them to made Europe a great advance such as the rise of artists and celebrities in the creation of art. Renaissance is an era of art that give priority to the outward appearance of human and nature. Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni are one of the most famous artists in Renaissance. Leonardo da vinci is an Italian painter, architect and inventor. He was born in 1452. Many people called him “Renaissance man” due to his famous painting “The Mona Lisa” and “The Last Supper”. The Last Supper was created for the refectory of the monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie. This work measure is about 29 feet. After that, he painted a series of portraits that is best known as Mona Lisa. He painted it between 1503 and 1506. This painting is about the woman that has a mysterious smile. Many people thought she was Mona Lisa Gherardini. But from the current study, the scholars found that she was Lisa del Giocondo, wife of Florentine merchant Francisco del Giocondo. Today, the portrait is housed at the Lourve Museum in Paris, France, where it attracts millions of visitors each year. Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni known simply as Michelangelo. He was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet of the Renaissance born in the Republic of Florence. Many scholars have described Michelangelo as the greatest artist of all time. “The Pietà” is a work of Renaissance sculpture by him. It was painted between 1498 and 1499. It was commissioned for the French ambassador in Rome. This painting is about Jesus and Mary, mother of Jesus, the body of Jesus on the lap of his mother after the Crucifixion.
