Overall, the unemployment rate for the rural areas had been decreasing, whereas it was increasing for the urban areas. However, at the end of the year, the unemployment percentage is still greater for the rural area than urban area. Furthermore, the data is divide on a quarterly basis. Firstly, for the rural areas, it can be seen that the unemployment rate had been decreasing for the first half of the year, and reached its minimum of around 4. 5 per cent. For the other half of the year, the unemployment percentage increased a bit and then plateau. Secondly, for the urban areas, the unemployment increased till the first half of the year. Then for the next quarter, it decreased and reached its minimum of 2 per cent. But after that, it gradually increased and almost surpassed the unemployment percentage of the rural area.
