Overall, a number of noticeable improvements can be seen in those maps, particularly in the removal of industrial and sanitation areas in the early of 19 century and the development of Sherman park and other infrastructures in the middle of 19 century.
In 1910, the housing was dominated the Langley ground on the east side and in the middle of the city. On the top of the maps, a factory and a wasteland stood together. Furthermore, alongside two rows of houses in Sherman Street, there was a store, laundry, and cafe. In addition, there was a wasteland in the south area, a railway worker's cottage, and a railway line on the south.
After thirty years, a significant improvement can be seen in some places. A lot of townhouses had been replaced by some flats, while an industrial area had been demolished to make way for Sherman Mansions. Moreover, some places, including wasteland, worker's cottages, and railway, were flattened to provide more space on Sherman Park and the opening of New Lane street. Furthermore, store buildings had improved, and other trading buildings had been relocated.
