The tables compare the amount of money gained from selling Fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas in 2 years 1999 and 2004 in fives European nations namely UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Belgium and Sweden.
It is clear that, the money earned from coffee in five countries all witnessed a substantial increase and UK was a nation that earned money from purchasing coffee more than others in the table. Moreover, two out of five countries in the table were Sweden and Denmark observed a significant decrease in the amount of money from selling bananas in 2004. And selling bananas helped Switzerland gained more money than other nations.
In 1999, the amount of money five countries earned from selling coffee was fairly low with the highest number was 3 millions. The money Switzerland and Belgium earned from coffee are double in 2004 as much as that in 1999 ( from 3 millions to 6 millions and from 1 to 1. 7 millions, respectively). While that of Denmark and Sweden simply saw a slight increase, which rose by 0. 2 millions in both countries( from 1. 8 to 2 millions and 0. 8 to 1 million, respectively). After five years, UK became a biggest earner from selling coffee, which reached 20 millions of euro in 2004.
The money earned from selling bananas experienced noticeable growth in Switzerland, which stood at 15 millions and then rose remarkably to 47 millions in 2004. That of UK and Belgium followed the same pattern ( from 1 to 5. 5 million and from 0. 6 to 4 millions, respectively). In 2004 was seen a downward trend by 0. 8 millions in the money gained from purchasing bananas in Sweden and similarly, Denmark became the lowest earner from selling bananas, which hit the bottom at 0. 9 millions in 2004.
