The table gives information about perceived causes of conflict at work. The causes are divided into three categories, and they were assessed at three levels: no conflict, mild conflict, and serious conflict. The levels are given as percentages of responses.
It can be seen that by far the biggest cause of serious conflict was the category of management/worker relationships, although relationships between workers generated the greatest number of mild conflicts.
The least conflict occurred in the area of rules, with 31. 6% of employees reporting no conflict in that area, almost double the number reporting no conflict in the area of management/worker relationships. Around a fifth of all employees experienced no conflict in relationships between workers. Mild conflict between workers was almost double that between managers and workers, at 62. 9% and 32. 1%, respectively, and rules were the cause of mild conflict for 45. 4% of respondents. Serious conflicts were least prevalent between workers, reported by just over 16% of participants, while 23% reported serious conflicts over rules. However, more than half of all employees (51. 3%) experienced serious conflict in the area of management/worker relationships.
