The table below shows the weekly expenses of retired single person and retired couple in six fields in Australia in 2015. q62er
The table illustrates how much money per week that a single person and a couple need to live a comfortable life in Australia in six majors namely: housing, leisure, food, transport and the others in 2015. Overall, what stands out from the table is that the budget of a retired single person was much lower in comparison to a couple. One of the most striking features is that single retirees need more money for housing whilst other activities are the biggest expenditure for a retired couple. In one week, a retired single person might spend $146 in housing which is much higher than a couple for 50 dollars. However, in leisure fields, the expenditure for couples came out second while a person needed only half of that of couples. As for food, two times as much money a couple had to spend as a single person with $150 and $85 respectively. In terms of transport, couples and singles need the same amount of money, at 108 and 107 respectively. About clothes expenditure, 20 more dollars couples needed than one person; with $70 compared with $55. When it comes to other things, the figure for an individual was almost half of that of a couple. In total, the amount of money spent by a person was $ 635, whereas the figure for a couple is $931.
